My Early Experiences in the Ministry
In my years of preaching, I learned the importance of evangelism and soul-winning. My mentors showed me, by example, how to go door-to-door and share my testimony with others. Throughout my ministry, these experiences have yielded some of my most satisfying moments as a Christian.
One particular instance was the day I met a man who had been sleeping in an old car behind a gas station. I later found out he had been living in that car for over a week. He was drunk most of the time.
I began to witness to him and he promised me, if I would go away he would come to church the next day. That he did, and he was gloriously saved. The next week as he was baptized he said, "Last week I didn't have a friend to my name. Now, I have a whole church full of people who love me." "Praise God!"
One of the most memorable experiences I have had as a minister took place in an old school house. The local church had disbanded in recent years, but there was a group of them wanting to start over. I preached a one week revival. On Thursday night a revival broke out with 17 salvation's. By the time the Saturday night service was over, a total of 35 souls had been saved. That church is still holding services today and holding up the blood-stained banner of Christ. To God be the glory!
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come to condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
